Information Collected for "Members Only" Services

Areas of the OSWG website that are not for "Members Only" do not require the submission or retention of personally identifiable information.

As a volunteer organization, the OSWG website solicits and maintains data related to its individual members.

This data is used to control access to any "Members Only" areas of the website, to allow members ease in communicating with one another, and to assist in the building of an online community among members. Generally, the data collected is work-related contact and task/skills information.

Specifically, portions of the membership data are available in the "Members Only" areas of the online membership directory, mentor search and the skills register.

From time to time, OSWG conducts online surveys which may touch on subjects of job classifications, salary bands and the like. If such questions are posed, the resulting data is only used in the aggregate, and individual data is not made available to the OSWG membership or anyone else except the professionals compiling the aggregate results. Furthermore, the answering of such survey questions is voluntary and not required to be included in the remainder of the survey's questions.

No membership information will be voluntarily disclosed by OSWG to anyone outside the group or the group's coordinators, unless required by regulation, statute or court order. In the event the site is is submitted for evaluation by awards or certification bodies, temporary access to the membership information area may be granted to the evaluators.

As a website for which one of the primary purposes is the presentation of third-party documents and sites for use as resources, the OSWG website routinely points its users to other websites - both public and private. OSWG website users who visit other sites are advised to check the privacy statements of those sites. In general, you should never provide personally identifiable information in an online environment without a complete understanding of how the information will be used.
